Using the story of Peter walking on water to go toward Jesus as the foundation of this book, Jennifer establishes that in order to move closer to God and have a closer union with Him, we have to step out in faith. We have to be willing to not only listen for God's calling in our life, but also pursue what we feel He has promised us, in order for Him to give us those gifts and everyday miracles that we desire.
Sharing testimonies from her own past, such as going to the airport without a ticket beforehand, Jennifer presents us with a multitude of examples as to how she personally has stepped out in faith time and time again, so we may get a better feel for how this might look in our own lives. She also give activation steps at the end of each chapter with questions, suggestions, and prayers centered upon letting go, focusing on Jesus, moving toward God, and several other practical steps to help us step into our place as His children.
I have mixed feelings about this book. I feel that overall, Jennifer has laid out an inspirational story and a wonderful foundation for anyone seeking to feel closer to God and increase their faith in His role in their everyday lives. However, parts of the book have a very repetitive nature and duplicate things already discussed in previous chapters. Reading through this book in a short time frame and trying to soak it all up, this could be bothersome and tiring. But, if you read it slowly (as intended) and break it up to, say, one chapter a week for 17 weeks, then the slight repetition could serve more as a review and reminder of what has already been covered and what progress has already been made. In this case, that could be a major asset - particularly for those of us that need a hint of familiarity to refresh our memory after dealing with the daily grind in the interim. Overall, 4/5 stars.
